April 26th

We hacked the shrubbery in the garden until the green waste bin was full, then I went and met Randy at the airport.  We decided to fly up to Oroville again, as the restaurant at the golf course there is open.

After lunch, we flew back.  Interestingly we went to the West of some hills we usually go to the East of, and there's a whole runway there that's not on the charts.  There was a King Air parked on it, so it's not like it's an unprepared strip, or anything.

April 25th

The green waste was picked up yesterday, so I cut the grass.  It's been two weeks since I last did it, which wouldn't normally be an issue, but now it's warmed up and the sprinklers are on, it's grown a ton, so the green waste bin is about 1/3 full already.

We went to the airport and met Randy for lunch, then went and took the plane out so I could practice some stuff.

April 22nd

I went to the airport after work and changed the oil in the plane.  While I was there, I gave it a bit of a clean to get the bugs off.

April 18th

We flew up to Oroville for lunch - Vic and me in my gyro, Randy in his gyro, and Chris in his RV-6.  We flew to the East and under Beale's airspace because we're too lazy to call NorCal approach and fly through it.

After lunch, we flew back along the river, to the West of Beale.

I'm now due for some maintenance, oil change, pre-rotator cleaning and so on.

April 16th

The new gas tank for the lawn mower came in, so I spent a little while installing that.

We tried to watch "Picard" on CBS All Access, but there was a lot of stopping and starting - I'm pretty sure our interwebs are working OK, and the app on my phone crashed, so I'm thinking this is a CBS problem.  I'm not very impressed with it.

April 13th

One of the branches of the shrubbery down the side of the house collapsed because it's not being supported any more, so I got to take that down and jam it in the green waste bin.

April 12th

It was a grubby looking morning, so we mostly worked in the garden.  I took down some more of the shrubbery next to the house, and talked Chris through some electrical work on his gyroplane :o)

April 11th

I took the lawn mower apart because it's started leaking gas.  I wanted to look at the tank to know which one to order to replace it - I've tried epoxying it before on a previous crack with a small amount of success, but it's so old that I figure I can drop $35 on a new one.

I flew to Auburn to meet Chris and Randy for lunch.  Randy wasn't at the airport when I left, so I flew down towards the house to show up on my ADS-B statistics before heading up the hill.

Chris was late too, so I chatted to an older couple who we've seen up there before until Chris arrived.  We went over to the restaurant and ordered lunch online, only to have it say it'd be available for pick up on Monday.  Oops.  Randy arrived as we'd discovered this, so we headed back to Lincoln and ate at Mary's.

Chatted to John about his RV-6, then Rob about the first flight of his RV-14 on Wednesday, then headed home.

April 10th

We watched "Dolittle".

April 3rd

I went and met Randy at the airport, and we flew up to Auburn to get a takeaway from the Wings restaurant and eat it on their patio.

It was pretty busy up there, and after lunch we flew home.

I went home and ran some drain cleaner through the sink to hopefully clear the remnants of yesterday's blockage.  Randy had some paramotor friends who were flying from Marysville to the Sutter Buttes, so we met at the airport about 30 minutes after they'd left, then took the planes and went and found them before heading home.

April 2nd

I went and braved Costco to see what they have.  I managed to get some puppy pads for the critter room and some Coke(tm) for Vic, but they were out of toilet paper (didn't need any, just wanted to see if they had some).

I went to the airport and tinkered around with the plane for a while, and when Randy showed up, we went for a quick flight.

I went home to unblock the kitchen sink, and Jen came over to play with Tilly and drop off ginger cookies.  We sat in the hot tub for a while, as I was shutting it down now it's getting warmer and we're not using it as much.

April 1st

It's a new month, so here are the stats:

Power billed
Power generated

I'm off this week, so I went out to the airport and did some tinkering on the plane, then helped Steve pull out the SNJ and Rob's RV-14, then put the SNJ in the back and the RV in the front.

At this point, I took the plane out for a toddle around.  It was pretty thermally as everything's starting to warm up in the sun, and at one point I was suddenly climbing at 800' a minute, without doing anything.

I got back to the airport, and remembered I wanted to replace the drain hoses on the plane, so set about doing that with a hot engine (doh.)  Rob arrived, and I helped him weigh his RV, as he's aiming to get it inspected at the beginning of next week.  Once I'd got everything back together on my plane, I headed home.

March 31st

The weather was starting to brighten up a bit, so I went outside and chopped more stuff off the shrub along the side of the house.  Once the green waste bin was full, I gave up.

After a rest, I went to the airport and went flying... nothing in particular, just pottering around.

March 30th

I'd taken the week off originally to try and go to the UK, but then had to cancel the second week because a cow-orker wanted the week to take his kids away (it's their spring break).  I kept the week anyway, thinking I could fly, so obviously the weather sucks.  I just sat in and caught up on some tidying up and videos online.
