March 29th

The UC Davis vet called during the night to say that Emma the guinea pig wasn't doing well - she had kidney and heart problems.  It was decided that enough was enough, and she was euthanised.

In the morning, Vic went to sort everything out at Davis, and I trimmed up and finished the edges of the tail piece for Russ' desk.

I washed the van, and cleaned up a few electrical connectors that have been giving me problems.  I then collected all the recycling and dropped that off on the way to the airfield, where I (hopefully) found the loose connection to the EIS, then went for a flight until it was getting dark.  Having seen pretty much nobody (other than the parachute drop plane) when I left, I ended up doing an orbit on my inbound leg to leave space for a helicopter, extending downwind for an inbound plane that didn't announce where she was very well, then orbiting again on finals to allow the helicopter to do a practice engine failure on landing :o)  I chatted with Danny for a while before driving home to watch the most excellent MotoGP race from Qatar.

March 28th

My Warcraft subscription ends soon, so I worked on getting my warlock (my last toon) up to level 100.  Achieved :o)

I had thought about going flying, but it was gusty, so I shelved that.

Emma the guinea pig wasn't getting better, so Vic called around to find somebody to look at her on a Saturday evening, and we ended up driving ~50 miles to UC Davis (where Chloe used to go for her pacemaker).  I sat in reception and did some work while Vic went back, and it was decided to keep her in overnight.

March 27th

One of the guinea pigs was sick, so Gwen came and picked Emma up and took her to the vet.

When we were playing ball, Tilly managed to punt the ball over the back fence and into their pool.  We walked around there to ask for her ball back, but there was nobody in, so Vic hopped the fence and retrieved it.  Crisis averted.

While we were walking back, Gwen arrived with Emma the guinea pig, and she's believed to have a bladder infection.  They'd pumped fluids into her, and she's feeling better.

We went out to pizza to celebrate.

March 25th

I went over to Lincoln for the Tri-motor meeting.  Lots was discussed.

March 24th

We went out to dinner with Gwen, as we had things and stuff to give her.

March 23rd

Vic got back from Oklahoma.  Eventually - her plane from Denver was delayed by several hours, but all's well that ends well.  Tilly was delighted to see her.

March 22nd

I wasted the morning playing Warcraft, and managed to try my oscillating tool for cutting into the tail in the garage.  It works well enough, but I think I'm going to be wearing out the blades when they hit steel (they go through aluminium quite well).  I had thought about going to the airfield, but it was pretty windy all day, and the clouds kept coming and going.  It eventually rained overnight.  Gwen came over to clean up after the guinea pigs (and play with Tilly, obvs).

March 21st

I wasted the day playing Warcraft and with Tilly, then went to the airfield.  I chatted with Richard and Lance for a while, then took the Flightstar out for a while.  It was quite bumpy, and the farmers are torching their fields (I thought they weren't allowed to do that, but it would appear I'm wrong) which isn't helping.  When I got back, I watched Lance and Richard taxying Tony's taildragger, and eventually headed home to feed the Mook (late).  Gwen had been and played with the guinea pigs while I was out, so they hadn't missed me.

March 20th

Gwen and family came over to play with Tilly and clean up after the guinea pigs.  Walter and I went out and pulled the error code out of her car (the check engine light keeps coming on) - it sounds like she may need a new ignition switch, but at least there's nothing that'll cause the car to explode any time soon.

March 19th

Gwen came over to play with Tilly and clean up after the guinea pigs.  I just tried to stay out of the way.

March 18th

I took the day off so I could drive Vic to the airport for her trip to Oklahoma (where the wind comes sweeping down the plain) and play Warcraft.

In the evening, I went to the EAA membership meeting and came home to find that Gwen had been in to feed / clean up after the guinea pigs.

March 16th

Gwen and Walter came over to play with Tilly, and we ended up going out to dinner with them.  Without Tilly, as she'd already eaten.

March 15th

I tinkered around the house all day, then went over to the airfield and chatted with Richard while picking up the battery charger.  It had been gusty and blowing across the runway all day, so I decided against flying.

March 14th

I went out and finished cutting Russ's tail to size, then started cutting the nice edge, only to have the new rotary tool catch fire, even though I wasn't pushing it.  I'm blaming a manufacturing defect.

We went over to Folsom so Vic could look at dragons, and there was a car meeting in the parking lot across the road.  There was an Aventador, several Gallardos and Ferraris, plus a Lotus, Aston Martin and an Audi R8.

I dropped the extra tail part off with Lance at the airport (he was pretty stoked), and took the plane up for a bit.  I didn't think I'd have time to go anywhere, so I just did circuits until it was getting dark - turns out that was almost an hour.  Just as I was coming in for my last landing, Danny went out in his Quicksilver, so we stood and chatted when he got back (he was only out for 10 minutes).  I've been having some problems with the EIS resetting itself, and I'm back to thinking it's possibly a battery charge thing (I'm running a lot of power off the battery), so I plugged that in to charge overnight and headed home.

March 13th

I stayed up kind of late playing Warcraft, but I got my druid to level 100.  Only one toon to go now :o)

March 8th

I took the van full of stuff over to the airfield, and left the parts in the hangar as Lance wasn't there.  I then took the plane out for about 90 minutes.  It was a little bumpy, but you can see all the way to the mountains really well as the sky's clear.

March 7th

I started the day pulling out all of the aircraft parts that Russ brought up that I don't need, and loading them in to the van - there's a guy at the airport who's expressed interest in some parts.  I then started cutting the extra bit off one of the wings until I managed to set my rotary tool on fire (I was wearing gloves, so I didn't realise how hot it was getting).  It goes through the aluminium really well, but struggles a bit with the steel ribs.  Ah well, at least I'll be able to see what I'm doing to trim the extra parts off once I'm in there.

Jim was having a showing of his train photos at a local brewery, so we went over to take a look - the prints on aluminium are an interesting idea.

Before it got dark, we went out and hammered in some fence supports to hold up the fence while we figure out what to do about it.  Apparently Carl's OK with splitting the cost of replacing the fence, so when we're feeling strong, we'll look in to that.

March 4th

Straight from work I went to Kinko's to pick up some flyers for the EAA, only to be stuck there for 45 minutes.  That meant I was late for the Tri-Motor meeting, but the guy I'd asked to be there didn't speak until after I'd arrived anyway, so it all worked out OK.

March 3rd

I got up stupidly early, and headed to the office for a day there.  Luckily I took the DRZ, as the traffic sucked from Richmond and I was filtering the rest of the way.

March 1st

A new month, so here are the solar stats:
Power billed
Power generated

Russ was here, and we tinkered in the garage with the parts of airplane wing that he'd brought up.  After we went out for breakfast, he headed back to Los Angeles, and I ended up at the airport going for a quick flight in the 11 mph wind :o)

February 28th

Russ was coming in to town, so I just played Warcraft until he showed up.
